Captain Daring and his crew sail aboard the “Revenge,” fighting pirates and “savages” along the way wherever they may dare to appear.
Buccaneers #21* from May 1950 is jam-packed with classic pirate jargon, such as “Batten my hatches,” “Spring ashore, me hearties” and of course “Aye aye cap’n.”
The pirate theme in the golden age of comics wasn’t a wildly popular genre. Regardless, priestess Quilla a.k.a. Trissa Parley (drawn here by the exceptional Reed Crandall of Blackhawk fame) creates quite a scintillating good girl cover doing her ancient “dance of war.” Hoist the jib mates.
